Descendants of one of Chingis' grandsons.
Tamerlane was a feudal retainer of theirs before he went off marauding
on his own.
THE KERTS - These were descendants
of the Ghorids, from whom had sprang Muhammad bin Sam, he who founded the
Delhi sultanate. In Afghanistan they had been suppressed by the Khwarezmshah,
which made them natural allies of the Mongols, who gave them things to
do in their Afghan homeland. By the 14th century they were running
their own show.
