CHINA, socketed axes and adzes.
    These are Shang-Zhou period, c. 1100-800 BC.  All were mounted on handles that had a right angle curve.  Axes were mounted with the blade in line with the handle to make a vertical cut.  Adzes were mounted with the blade perpendicular to the handle to make a horizontal cut.  Most of these were tools rather than weapons.
