BOLIVIA,
SPANISH COLONIAL, late 17th c., bronze
ship's signal cannon, 90x79mm, transverse ribs, match hole, from the wreck
of the Isla de Muerte, sunk off the coast of Ecuador when it was part of
the Viceroyalty of Potosi. This was used by ships coming into port
at night to let them know they were coming in. Ex-Christie’s auction,
