GERMAN JETONS
If you haven't read the preface to the French jetons page you might consider doing so to be a good idea.
The use of jetons in Germany is as old as in France.  Starting in the late 15th century the city of Nuremberg/Nürnburg became rather famous as a place where jetons were made and a line of guildmasters propagated through several families into the 20th century, when they were still making miniature spielgeld (playmoney).  Of course, Nuremberg was not the only town where jetons were made, just the most famous.
Many of the tokens used in France during the 17th through the 19th centuries were made in Germany.  Sometimes you can't tell the difference, but the Germans, in aggregate, if they are faithful copies of the French types, have a tendency toward cheaper metal (brass instead of bronze, billon instead of silver).  Maybe the artwork will be a bit more cartoonlike.  Maybe they'll be smaller too.
