CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC
This country is rather excessively poor.  CFA francs of the Central African States
are used indiscriminately.  The series of "Three Antelope" 100 franc coins of 1971-79 is
rather tough to assemble in any grade, let alone Unc.  Far and away the easiest to acquire
is the 1976 date, which may still be available wholesale.  The "Empire Centrafricaine"
version of 1978 remains a very scarce coin, slightly more common as an essai than as a
circulation piece.  CAR has issued a 500 franc coin of the standard CAS type.  It has not
appeared on the market.  The 1970 gold coins of the vainglorious cannibal dictator
Bokassa are quite scarce.
