PAKISTAN, seals
Allow me to demonstrate a lot of ignorance here.  There must be research and publication on these seals, but I have been unable to find it.  Maybe its in Russian or Urdu or Farsi.  They liked using seals in this zone from Indus times 5000 years ago.  Some of these are obvious, more or less.  The attributions of most of them, I'm sorry to say, are rankest guesswork, only slightly informed by things people tell me.  If you know better please go ahead and tell me, with citations if possible, and I'll cheerfully amend the descriptions.  Authenticity, on the other hand, is a different matter, and is guaranteed.

PS45) BAKTRIAN, c. 800-300 BC, bronze seal, 45x43mm, cruciform, rectangle in center, ring on back, unknown location in NWFP.  Supplier, a native of NWFP,  calls it Baktrian.  One can legitimately ask where's the patina if this is 2500 years old?  Patina, however, is not an absolute requirement on old bronze.  There are some aspects of the design that remind me of Chinese stuff, c. 500-800 AD or so, and this origin in a NWFP context would not be unique.  I am confident that it is not modern.  VF $75.00 sold
