INDIA - "NATIVE STATES"
The so-called "Native States" series of Indian coins are those issues of local rulers within British India with whom the British maintained treaty relationships that permitted them to issue coins.  It was a rather loose system, not particularly well delineated in, say, the Standard Catalogs of World Coins.  Technically the earliest date would be 1858, though you couldn't tell from the catalogs.  The last date would be 1947.  In keeping with the prevailing usage, I will potentially put coins on this page back to the 16th century!
