DEHLI SULTANS,
Long line of Muslim rulers.  The founder was a scion of the house of Ghor, former Ghaznavid feudatories in west-central Afghanistan, who broke away in mid-12th century.  They expanded east.  After taking a breather for a few decades they marched east yet again, not stopping until they reached north-central India.  At that point we stop calling them "Ghorids" and start calling them "Dehli sultans."  Several dynasties.  Rich history.  Some great guys, some horrible monsters.  Have to write more about this sequence some day.  Note Delhi (the modern name of the city) vs. Dehli (what is read on the coins).

Most references call these "staters," which of course is not what they were called by the users.  Gupta & Kidarite "staters" were ~8g, these are ~4.5g, pretty much of a dinar, though they follow the pre-Islamic prototypes which were the same lower weight.  So why shouldn't I call them 1/2 staters?
