MALLAS - Also known as the Polonnaruwas, and again as the "kings of Kandy."  The first king of this line expelled the southern Indian Cholas who had occupied most of the island for about a century.  The first of their coins were gold, but about 100 years into the dynasty they devalued to copper.  The types are nicknamed "octopus man," but those are people wearing see-through skirts.
